Which mid sentence option should I choose and is this all worded correctly?

During the war, Odila captured her fellow knight Gerard uth Mondar twice while he was disguised as a Dark Knight. The second time, after begrudgingly believing (Gerard/him) to truly be a Solamnic Knight, Odila agreed to pretend that he had captured her instead of the other way around when they encountered an invading army of Dark Knights outside of Solanthus.
