Which is/are or which of the following is/are

Hi. Please help. Which is correct? Perhaps are they both correct? Let's say these are the questions that have several correct answers in the form of multiple choice questions. I think the words "nice," "gentle" and "kind" are synonyms. Let's say the available multiple choice answers for both questions are "gentle," "kind," "rude" and "loudy."
