As the time has gone by, the type of housing has been evolving according to the needs of people. Making the choice about the place to live is one of the most crucial moment in life. On one hand, there are prone people to live in a house, for instance a detached house, but on the other hand a flat also offer some advantages and some people opt for this kind of place. In this essay I will argue about positives and negatives points of living in a detached house compared with living in a flat .

One of the main advantages that a house offers is usually more space to enjoy than a flat. They are often formed by a couple of storeys and a garaje along with a basement, which is ideal for big families. Surveys from state agencies indicate the preference of this kind of houses in UK for families with more than four members. Conversely, an apartment could not offer such a big espace, mainly in the city centre. To illustrate this idea, my parents moved to a bigger detached house in the suburbs of Madrid when my third sister was born.

Turning to the other side of the argument, it has been shown that a house could not be as comfortable as people think. As I mentioned before, this sort of houses normally have stairs and this is not so convinient for old people. People older than 65, tend to live in a small and comfortable apartment, close to a variety of facilities as medical centers or supermarkets. In conclusion, I would argue that pros and cons of both kind of houses need to be consider regarding to the age of the occupants, and from that consider if the positive points outweigh the drawbacks of chosing a place to live.
