Which is the difference between From / Of?

Is very complicated. For example:

As every voice is hanging from the silence. (Figured Tense - Exist figured tense?, Correct me If I'm bad, thanks ... I mean It's a part of a song)
Lamps is hanging from the ceiling.

"From" indicate origin or possesion? What happened with Of? Is a bit coonfused if I try to translate them to Spanish.

Thanks in advance.
