Which is the appropriate question for 'He worked long hours.'?

Hi teachers,
This is what the students listen to, 'He worked long hours.' Which is the appropriate question? 'How many hours did he work?' I don't think so. I really have no idea this time.

Yes. I don't think we will find a precise question, however. (I mean one that will necessarily elicit the answer 'Long hours'.)
