Which is proper?

Whilst playing Catan, one player asks "Would anyone like a wood for a sheep". Now assuming the person asking is implying that the wood (first mentioned card) belongs to them. Would and could this me misinterpreted my the other player or even meant the opposite way for the second player?

I would assume the correct way to present the question (if you would like to trade your own wood) would be to say.
"Would anyone like my wood for a sheep"
