which is common? Note these are all taboo questions in British-based culture. Such information is commonly considered very personal and private. (Except in suitable situations, eg if you are applying to the bank for a loan.)
Often, even family members do not know such things about each other.

This usually surprises my Chinese students.

The same would be true in the U.S. Asking someone how much money they make, or how much their house/car/whatever cost, would be very rude.

And I am sure there are many Chinese courtesies that I would find odd, too. That is a part of cross-cultural learning.

"How much do you earn?" is the common question people ask!!

But most of the people feel uncomfortable to answer if we ask this question!!
