Which is correct English?

Which is correct and sounds native:

1.) The lawyers of movie star and former singer Josh Clark have this week submitted an appeal to the New Jersey court requesting it to dismiss all charges against their client.

2.) Earlier this week the lawyers of movie star and former singer Josh Clark submitted yet another appeal to the New Jersey court requesting it to dismiss all charges against their client.

fivejedjon, thanks. Would the first sound as being made by a non-native English speaker and the second as by a native?

In the 2nd, 'requesting it to dismiss' sounds a little unusual to me; I would expect 'requesting that it dismiss'. 'Of' is more usually 'for'. 'An appeal' and 'yet another appeal' convey quite different facts. I think I'd do this:
