Which is correct?

I was reading a book and came across this sentence;

"Girls love the way their name sounds....."

Is that sentence grammatically correct?
Shouldn't it be "their nameS sound" instead of "their name soundS"?
It's the word "their" that is confusing me since their is supposed to represent a lot of people?

Thank you!
