Which is correct?

"Barack Obama is which president of America?" or "Barack Obama is what number president of America?"

I have seen both used in some prominent Web sites. However, it sounds a bit weird to me. What could be the right way to ask the same question?

There is no 'right way'. English does not have a 'how manieth?' form, so people ask the question in a number of different ways. 'What number president is Barack Obama?' is one acceptable way.
