Which is correct?

Hye everyone! could you please tell me, how should I say this?
"What do we say the light of the candle just before it puts out"
"What do we say to the light of the candle just before it puts out"
My question is , should I use "to" in the above sentence or not?
My mean to say the above sentence is what is the candles' last light is called?
Thanks!

I think you mean: What do we call the light of a candle just before it goes out? We have no special term for that in English - not for the light itself. You can, however, speak of a candle that flickers out or sputters out.
