Which is correct?

My head is burned out with which one is correct!?! I see that many articles where people use both of the examples below.

So, which example is correct? (I'm from England)

In 1996, my greatest cinematic experience was Roland Emmerich's 'Independence Day'.

Does the full stop go on the inside or on the outside of the quotation marks?

Thanks,

Logic would have the full stop outside the quotation mark as it isn't part of the name of the film. (I know that logic and English often have nothing to do with each other. ) There will probably be other suggestions.

'Independence Day' is just a proper noun as far as part of the speech is concerned. So grammatically speaking, the period/ full stop should be placed outside of the quotation mark.
