Which is correct?

I'll have to chek a diary or the diary?

I'll make the appropriate decisions or appropriate decision?

I struggle with prepositions "a" and "the" use.

"A" and "the" are articles, not prepositions.

Have a look at the general grammar forum for a good explanation of their use.
