Which is correct?

I chose this house because of its large/larger size. I thought by buying a large/larger house, it would make me happy.

are both choices ok? which is better?

Greetings, by using comparative forms ('larger') you more explicitly imply that the house you have presently/had recently is not as big as the one you chose, in other words, the comparison of the two buildings becomes more obvious. Also, I would rewrite the the second sentence in the following way: I thought that buying a larger house would make me happy. Respectfully, Gleb Chebrikoff
