According to the rules, always use the objective form after a preposition: with John and me. Some native speakers don't know the rule, so they use "I" because they think it is correct or because they think it sounds better. So if a native speaker tells you: Keep this secret just between you and I -- you will know that s/he is speaking "bad" English.
