I disgaree with Sameer. The book was written - it was written 200 years ago. Her name was Jane Austen - but she's dead now. Number 5 or 6 are correct - but actually I would say "Pride and Prejudice was written by Jane Austen, an/the English novelist".

Hey Kate, thanks for your inputs. I totally agree with your justification. But, I feel its all about one's perception. Don't you think it is context sensitive as well? [Considering all styles of English]..
