Just in terms of grammar, only #2 is correct, because you need the article. However, in terms of usage, it would be much more common to say this in another way.

However, what I wonder is if we want to build a good grammar English sentence, we can not use a countable noun without article?
For example, which are correct:

For a singular countable noun, you need an article. eg a/the chair. But not always for a plural countable noun.

eg The chairs that I bought were cheap.

Chairs are used for sitting.
