Which is correct?

Could you help me with the following sentences:

a) Which sentence is correct?
i. My shirt has five buttons.
ii. I have five buttons on my shirt.


b) Which preposition should I use?
i. I have a collar in my jacket.
ii. I have a collar on my jacket.

Hi Guest-- (a) Both are correct, as is 'there are five buttons on my shirt'. (b) 'I have a collar on my jacket', but 'there's a collar on my jacket' is more colloquial.

(a) Both are correct, as is 'there are five buttons on my shirt'.

(b) 'I have a collar on my jacket', but 'there's a collar on my jacket' is more colloquial.

a) Both sentences are gramatically correct. To me, the second sounds better.
b) The second is correct - on my jacket.

The suggestions given are grammatically correct, but they don't really sound what a native speaker would say.

Here are my suggestions:

a) My shirt has five button -- or -- There are five buttons on my shirt.

b) My jacket has a collar. I would leave off "on it" although "on it" is definitely preferable to "in it."

Hope I can add one more piece of information.

For (b), it should be "on" as other suggestions unless the collar you are referrinng to is inside your jacket.
