Which is better?

In a telephone conversation:
A: Hello. This is Judy. May I speak to Cathy?
B1: I'll put you through. Could you hold, please?
B2: I'll put you through. Hold on, please.

Which is better, B1 or B2, in responding to A?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you very much to Dave.
Your answer is very clear and helpful.

But I'd like to provide some context to the original post.
Let's say this telephone conversation took place in a business setting.
If B was a personal assistant to Cathy, would B1 ever be an appropriate way of handling the call?

Hi

I think it's right, because 'Please can you hold' means 'Please wait for a moment while I connect your call'

Hi

I would say that B2 is OK but, ever so slightly, it is less formal. 'Can you please hold on' can sound like 'You'll have to be patient for a bit'

But 'Can you please hold' is just explaining something that happens on phones
