The motorcyclist who lost his leg in an accident was looking for those who saved him/his saviours.

Natural is eg The motorcyclist who lost his leg in an accident was looking for the people who saved his life.

But shouldn't we use 'had lost' (the past perfect) here? I mean he was looking for the people who saved his life, but the accident and the action of his losing his leg happened before.

Thank you, Clive.

The Past Perfect is usually not used in situations where the sequence of events is clear without it.

A common learner error is using the Past Perfect unnecessarily.
