which is better?

I have lived on the I.O.W or I have lived in the I.O W??

Top answer

O W?? Without more context, all I can say is that "I have lived on the Isle of Wight" is more likely. The past simple normally goes with a time period - " for five years', 'when I was a teenager', 'from 2005 to 2006', etc
