Which is better?

I wrote an essay some time ago and i wrote sth like that in it:
"one of the most critical issues, which many university graduates are e n c o u n t e r e d b y....."
...
and my teacher rewrote this for...
"...which many university graduaates are confronted with"...

Which version is better? Is my version utterly incorrect?

Hi omen, It's fine to use the word "encounter" but you have to get the grammar right! You could say "which many graduates have encountered" or "which many graduates are encountering" but you can't say "which many graduates are encountered by". The teacher's suggestion is fine.
