Which expressions should I use?

• ‘Lacked factual backbone’ or ‘required verifiable facts’?

Such a claim (What you said) sounded like a clever theory to others, but it (lacked factual backbone, required verifiable facts).

• ‘Spread’ or ‘said’? ‘Might have gotten’ or ‘might have got’? A Facebook post (spread, said) that those hijackers (might have gotten, might have got) their plans from a Hollywood movie.

Which you would choose for the first sentence depends on where the sentence will occur. Both phrases are fine, but the first is quite casual, while the second is more formal. To be safe, I would use the second one: required verifiable facts.
