Which are correct sentences?

Hi! everyone I want to know which are the correct sentences out these below?
Situation-(Just after coming out of the car my brother had been driving I told my friends)
1-My brother drove so foolishly that we were about to have an accident.
2- My brother drove so foolishly that we were going to have an accident until I took over the steering wheel.(Is "until" correct here?)
3- My brother drove so foolishly that the car had been going to struck the side wall before I handled the car.
I want to know, are these sentences grammatically correct and also could you please give me some suitable sentences regarding this situation?

All are OK as amended:

1-My brother drove so foolishly that we almost had an accident.m -- 'About to' suggests that the accident happened.
2- My brother drove so foolishly that we were going to have an accident unless I took the wheel.
3- My brother drove so foolishly that the car had been going to hit the curb when I took the wheel.

Thanks! Sir for answering I still have 2 questions,Why did you use "unless" and not until? Does "unless" mean "If I had not taken the wheel" in above amended sentence?
2-Why can't I use "before" in the last sentence.
I will be very thankful Sir if you please tell me.
