Which

Hello,

1.He couldn’t read which surprised me.

I am not able to understand the usage of 'which'.

The "which" in 'which surprised me' should define to some noun in the main clause.

Could you please clear my doubts?

Thanks.

hanuman_2000 I am not able to understand the usage of 'which'. It refers back to the whole sentence. Such clauses are never defining, so they are always set off by a comma.
