Whether this or that?

Are the following grammatically correct? If both are correct, when shall we use one not the other?

Whether swimming or tennis, I like both.

Be it swimming or tennis, I like both.

It seems more logical to me to use "either" in these sentences, rather than "both". However, in normal reading I think "both" certainly may not leap out as an error. Both sentences feel like written sentences rather than colloquial.
