Whether ... (or not)

Do we have to include 'or not' when we use 'whether'? Should we just stick to 'whether'?

Examples:

Instead of:

"I am unsure whether I will pass this class or not"

"I am unsure whether or not I will pass this class."

Should we use:

"I am unsure whether I will pass the class."

Can we simply just remove 'or not' from this grammatical equation?

Thanks.
