Whether / if

We can say "Do you know where he is? ", but can we say "Do you know whether he will come? " or "Do you know if he will come? "

Please give me your opinion, thank you!

"Do you know whether he will come? "

"Do you know if he will come? "

Garner, Modern American Usage (if, A), recommends if only for conditions, and whether for alternatives, for editorial clarity.

Thus, I'd suggest only whether here.

If is often used like whether in reporting questions and in asking questions indirectly: I asked Helen if she had lost weight. (Times-Chambers Essential English Dictionary)
