Whether he's actually considering it

Kristin: It's on Friday if you're interested.

Phil: What time?

Kristin: At eight.

Phil nods. Kristin studies him a moment, trying to figure out whether he's actually considering it or not.


Is the sentence correct? Is 'actually' the most appropriate word to use here? Would the sentence be better and more clear if I wrote '...whether he actually is considering...' instead?
