Hi

Would you say where and how carry the same meaning here? And could you please tell me the expected answer--I mean, the usual/expected wording of the answer?

I think "rank" explains the difference. ) "What is your rank" could be taken either way, but more likely the second way. "Where do you rank him" asks you to place him on some implied scale.
