Where to use yesterday in a question?

Hello there,

My question is out of the two following questions which one is correct or either both are correct? Can we use Yesterday in the beginning of a question or we only use Yesterday at the end of a question? If it is so then why?

Q1. Yesterday morning was he playing cricket?

Q2. Was he playing cricket yesterday morning?

Thanks.

Hello Clive

What were you doing yesterday?

Yesterday what were you doing?

What did you eat yesterday?

Yesterday what did you eat?

To me the questions in bold are more correct.

Hi,

I'd say it's a matter of where you want to place the emphasis.

Clive,

To speak means to shift accents, not just pronounce correct phrases. It's crucial! Do you agree?
