Where to place 'whatever' phrase?

I'd like to place 'whatever it may be' in the following sentence. Where should I put it?
My guess is to put it before the word "that." One of the -in life is that, whatever it may be, you can achieve-. Is my interpretation correct?

One of the delightful things in life is that you can achieve something which has been beyond your ability, or understand something which has been incomprehensible to you.
