Where there are two subjects or more, which subject should the verb conform to?

I believe the first one is correct, not the second one. Please comment!

Examples:
Have you or your girl friend been here?
Has you or your girl friend been here?

You or your girl friend have been here.
You or your girl friend has been here.

1 and 4. The disjunct closer to the verb gets to dictate the number, so "Have you" and "friend has."

Are you saying the verb needs to conform to the closest subject?

That is,
Have you or your girl friend been here?
You or your girl friend has been here.

That's what I'm saying.
