Where it bends

Is this the way you write what happened to me

I got a pretty deep cut on my ring finger where it bends so I need to keep it straight.

The basic sentence is all right. You could also say "at the joint" if you wanted to be more technical. But I would add more to the thought: I have a deep cut on the joint of my ring finger.
