Letter Writing
where do I write the membership no.?
I was supposed to write an apology letter for delay in payment of membership fee to a business group, but i did not know where to put the membership no. My teacher said that the membership no should be written in place of reference no. like this

we don't use ref nos. in our letters.
But my boss said that the membership no should be written above the salutation.

Q1) who is right my teacher or my boss?
Q2) Should membership be spelled with a capital 'M'?
Q3) Where do I mention the other company's Ref no.?
Q4) The letter is to be posted from dubai to dubai (within UAE, which is a country) should I mention UAE in sender's address and recipient's address?
Q5) Does the same rule apply to Invoice no.?

Anonymous Q1) who is right my teacher or my boss? Your boss. I don't think that your teacher pays your salary or gives you promotions and raises, and there is no hard rule about this (only company standards and conventions), so the boss is right!

- I would put the membership number also in the body of your message.
- The reason for putting it outside the body is so that the letter can be filed more easily by the recipient.
