When/while+the present simple and continuous

-John, I've got a question.

-Oh, Martha, I've told you so many times to don't interrupt me when I'm reading/read a book.

Which tense is proper here and if both, what's the difference?

Also here;

-You shouldn't talk with anyone while you're driving/drive a car.

Oh, Martha, I've told you so many times not to interrupt me when I'm reading a book. You shouldn't talk with/to anyone while you're driving a car. "a book" and "a car" may be dropped without much loss.
