When/Whenever

Hi there.

Context: My kids live with me, and my ex-husband sees them once in a while.

Sentence: I always cook for them (my kids) while you (my ex-husband) just take them to McDonald's when/whenever you have them.

Is the sentence correct?

Should it be when or whenever?
