When you are putting "etc," at the end of the sentence, how should we make it?

One period (.) I tend not to use 'etc.' because many people interpret it as "there are probably more examples, but I can't think of them right now".

I use it if there are many exmaples which most people knows, so it would be redundant to list all the examples...

Saviola, based on this post, you seem to have developed a habit of ending sentences with ellipses... this should be avoided... it makes you look uncertain...
