So you read an encyclopedia or some resource for information but you need to write a paper about it. So you need to reword things to say the exact same thing but using different words? That doesn't make sense to me.
Like should you just quote the encyclopedia, or should you think up ways to talk about it some more, or embellish it with some useless fluff? I want to write about things and keep it as simple as possible. How many ways can you say one thing?

An essay should have your own thesis, your own points and your own ideas. If you want to support your points with published material, you can quote from the material and cite it as a reference.
