WHEN vs WHAT

Which would you say?

1 When is the first of the month?/What day is the first of the month?/What day does the first of the month fall on?

2 Is it raining? It looks like it/It seems so.

Can you say?

- He talks badly about her behind her back.

- He talks in bad about her. (can you say something like this?)

Thank you

All of those are fine. It all depends on the person you are addressing. Normally If you said 'He talks about her behind her back' it would be assumed that he speaks badly of her.

/What day is the first of the month? Good.

/What day does the first of the month fall on? Good.

Sorry, CJ as usual is right. I read he talks bad about her(which is fine) rather than he talks in bad about her (which as CJ states is wrong).

Thank you for clearing that up CJ.
