'When' used with a perfect tense

Hello everybody!
Could you clarify, please?

I heard a phrase like:

"When we've been working on the project so far, we've used the new tools"

I always thought that we use only past tenses with 'when' and 'after', when talking of the past.

So, is it grammatical to use the present perfect continuous after 'when'?

Thanks!

nkspb I always thought that we use only past tenses with 'when' and 'after', when talking of the past. That is not true if the time-period beginning in the past extends up to the present. nkspb So, is it grammatical to use the present perfect continuous after 'when'?
