When to use small "i" or caps "I"

This confusion raised when I wrote two sentences on word and found, according to word, both sentence are correct. Kindly assist me to understand which one is correct.

This is grammar 101. All sentences should begin with a capital letter. The first person, "I" is always capitalized no matter where it appears in the sentence.
