When to use at / for / in / on when asking questions?

Hey there

I see some people end their sentences with prepositions

I'd like to know when you should do that, some might say.

Why are you doing that? What are you doing that for?

Where is she? Where is she at? What is she interested in?

Please someone enlighten me when to use prepositions, thanks!

Top answer

Why are you doing that? Where is she? Where is she at?

  • Why are you doing that?
  • Where is she?
  • Where is she at?
  • Please someone enlighten me when to use prepositions, In the type of sentence examples you have provided, we do that almost always, formally and informally, because it is too awkward if we try to avoid it in formal writing.
