I don't think there is a good mnemonic for that. Both words can be either a noun or a verb, and the meanings are somewhat similar. You just have to study and memorize.

Effect is a noun.

Remember the phrase "cause and effect" or sentences like
This medication has some bad side effects.
I love the special effects in Star Wars.

Affect is a verb.

So many people are affected by the pandemic.
