When to use...

How do you know when you have use this: For example "On the city's main places" or "On the main places of the city". I think the first is wrong because the apostrophe it's only used for a person that owns something, it can't be used for places or thing. Am I right?
Thanks in advance.
Greetings.

OK.

The preposition 'on' goes with 'squares', but the preposition 'in' goes with 'places', so when you wrote 'on', I didn't think you meant 'places' because we say 'in places'.

Anyway, it turns out that when it comes to apostrophe-s or an of construction, each example is differe
