When to send the farewell email

After 12 years as an nurse educator for a grant funded project, my position will end March 2008. My plan is to stay at the institution I am currently employee with. When should I touch base with my contacts and colleagues via email to let them know I'm looking for another opportnity to work at the same institution. Please advise.

Thank you

T.

This is not Miss Manners's website, this is a grammar forum. However, it looks to me as if you are far too late-- you should have contacted them a year ago. If you mean 3/09, then by all means tell them now-- the sooner the better.
