When to say, "last thing I wanna do"

Hi,

Would you tell me when to use the phrase "that's the last thing I want to do"? I bet that is a roundabout way to say, "I don't want to do it," but not sure for what. To be indirect and thus polite?

Thank you,
M

"that's the last thing I want to do"? On the contrary, is a very direct statement. A more polite way is: I'm sorry, I just wouldn't like to do that.
