When to document sources

I'm doing a very minor research project, which I took almost exact sentences from a source; I'm wondering if anyone knows when one should document sources. I have to document for most "papers" I do for school, so I why so or why not this very minor research project?
I tried finding out through a search engine when to document; it was difficult to find an answer.
Thanks

by dosument, I ment to put the author's last name and page number in perenthesis at the end of the sentence. The teacher already told us we had to have a bibliography. Thanks

I don't think we have rules on that sort of thing. It's obviously better to cite the original author where it's stuff that matters [Rommie, 2004] because it shows you've done your research, and, fair enough, credit where credit's due. On the other hand it would be somewhat pointless to cite: "I'm just going down the shop for a pint of milk" [Albert Einstein, 1938], because ... who cares?
