Hi John; The old grammatical rule of capitalizing the first letter of the first word in a sentence has not changed. However, email is so casually and informally used these days, that writers get very lazy and do not bother to use the shift key. I've seen lots of emails with "i" instead of "I" and even proper names written in lower case.
