,when time contrants are involved... (regarding the comma)

Typing an essay is MUCH easier than writing one, when time contrants are involved.

Question: Would the semantics of this sentence change if I were to remove the comma before 'when'?

Top answer

No, I don't think so-- the comma just lets the reader pause and think a bit. And I don't think it's necessary here.

Hi,

Semantically, I understand your sentence. However, grammatically, the comma should be removed since the when clause restricts the meaning of the main clause. In other words, the when clause sets a condition for the main clause to be valid or precise.
